Question 3d acceleration help please...

i am very new to linux..i wanted to try something new anyways i have downloaded the softwarte wine and playonlinux..but everytime i start playonlinux is saysno 3d acceleration...i ran it on command and it says direct rendering no...so what do i do now and how do i install the 3d accelerator

What videocard do you have?
What driver do you use? How is your /etc/X11/xorg.conf configured?
What distribution do you use?

what Linux distribution are you using?

What 3d graphics accelerator do you have? Nvidia? ATI? Something else?

can't really answer your questions without some more info.

Best way would be for you to tell us which distribution you are using and your system specifications as well. I ask this because some distributions make it easier than others to install drivers and, well, we also need to know which graphics card you have.

i have ubuntu 7.10 gnome desktop

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. Chrome9 HC IGP (rev 01)- thats what i get when i go t see wha graphic card im using
