2.6.9 Compile Issue

I'm compiling my 2.6.9 kernel under Slack 10 right now. I'm not particularly new to Slackware, but I'm new to kernel modification/compiling. During the "make oldconfig" step, I answered "n" to the "emu10k1" prompt. There's a problem: I want it. I'm compiling right now, and I'd like to know if I need to actually abandon this attempt and try again, or if there's any post-compilation steps I can take to recover my sound.
For reference, I have a fairly aged Sound Blaster Live from an old computer; it's the weakest component in my box.

I don't know how Slack does things, but if it's make && make modules_install let it finish, then you can go right back into make menuconfig and make the one change you need. If the sound module is built in do make again and the sound stuff will be compiled and will all be re-linked, if it's a module you should be able to get away with just make modules_install.

make && make modules_install would be best really, it'll fly through the second time because most everything it made before is still usable.

Alright, thanks - I'm going to do that if I mess up this time.

The sound was the least of my concerns with my last compile. I let it work through anyway, because it didn't take much time and I wanted to see if I'd done anything else right. I hadn't. Back to menuconfig, thanks for the tip.
