2.0gb limit

i am using apache on fedora core 1 and i have some .iso files that are about 4gigs that i cant put on my server. they only show up as 2.0gb. all i have is an index page with links to download each file. how do i change the limit on the size of files?

Most of the time this is a value specified and compiled into the kernel. Most will recompile their kernel to support larger files > over 2.0GB

first, this is a newbie forum so a little help with recompiling the kernel would be helpful. second, my friend, while not einstein, seemed to think that it would have been easier, even though he couldnt remember how to do it when i asked him about it. he's pretty lazy so i think he would have said impossible if i, by which i mean pretty much him, had to recompile the kernal. even though i dont know how to do it, i know that it is pretty involved.
