100% noob got his hands on cedega 5.1

Right ok iam a right noob with linux basic stuck in a disk my teacher gave me and installed the lastest suse 10 but i have no idea how to do anything on it. after lpissing about for aa while i wanted to see how well games would run on it but i knew games arent ment for linux (windows games) so i started with wine and go nowhere but errors when trying to run .exe (im not even sure how i got that far ) then ive been told wine is crap for games and cedega is built for games.

so my question is how do i install and run cedega so then i can install and run games steam / cs1.6 / CS:S/ HL2 etc with cedega

Got Or Get

Your subject line says "got his hands on cedega", but your post doesn't make it clear if that is true or not.

If you've already gotten your hands on it, then you already know its not free. Since you've already paid your subscription fee, I'd recommend following the installation instructions available on the cedega website. If that fails, come on back and we'll be happy to try and help.

that just seems lazy to me, if there's loads of things you don't understand, start from the beginning, try working through, google those craz ybuzz words etc. You'll get there, if not, give us a specific question.

If you are going to be wanting your hand held through you're entire linux experience it's going ot be rough

Suse RPM

SUSE uses RPMs, so you must have a Cedega rpm. Let's assume its in your home directory.

Start up terminal. Step 1 is to make yourself root so you can install. Then use the rpm command to install cedega.

su
rpm -ivh /PATH_TO_PACKAGE/PACKAGE_NAME
exit

Once Cedega is installed, you'll have an icon on your desktop to start it. Double click on that. It will ask you a bunch of questions so you can configure it properly. To do this, you will need to know some details about your hardware. You will also have to know your TransGamer account info.

Cedega has an "install" button. This is used to install and configure your games.

The Cedega how-to seems pretty clear. It can be found at:

http://downloads.transgaming.com/fil...tall%7Coutline

I'm a big HL2 fan also, playing DoD mostly. Good luck. Don't get frustrated, just work through the problem. Trust me, it will get easier.

simple. go to http://www.transgaming.com/ and pay the $15 fee for 3 months service. then you can download, install, and run. you will also have access to voting, forums, and tech help from the TG staff.

it is a greatprogram and the people there are very good at helping newbs.

also the basic info about cedega on that site are very well written for the newbie and are easy to follow.

SuSe is not one of the top distros for running cedega. ubuntu, debian (testing), and gentoo are some of the top performers for cedega. IIRC.

i use cedga on a debian testing and WoW runs better on my debian system then it did under windows. same box.

Got a source to back up that extremely subjective comment?

OP: You want to go here to get Cedega. The instructions on that page couldn't be any clearer I don't think
