first of all, i am a complete linux newbie. Im operating on mandrake 9.1 and im on a fairly new sony. it has a SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator. thats the sound card.

this is the info from the mandrake control center:

Vendor: ‎Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]

Alternative drivers: ‎ali5455:i810_audio:nvaudio

Bus: ‎PCI

Bus identification: ‎1039:7012:104d:8127

Location on the bus: ‎0:2:7

Description: ‎SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator

Module: ‎snd-intel8x0

Media class: ‎MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO

all i know is that there is no sound, and i need sound.o yea, and at the bottom of the screen in the mandrake control center , it says running usr/sbin/drakesound when the sound card is highlighted. PLEASE HELP!
