'make' failing after OS reinstall

hi all, i recently upgraded from fedora core 1 to core 2, and decided to do a complete upgrade (wipes the system clean and reinstalls from scratch)..

i have installed absolutely everything on the disks, although when compiling from source I am having problems!

my process is to run

./configure
make

in fedora core 1 I rarely had any problems, although now the make command is failing. i am getting this output:

--------------------
cd .. && make am--refresh

does anyone have any ideas how I can get my system up and running so I can compile from source?

im still new to this..

thanks in advance

ps, my problems are specific to downloaded source off the net - in the above example it is for the arson CD burner.
