Hi all,
I'm yet googling for hours on how to recompile my kernel... without result. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and my kernel is 2.6.24-23-openvz. Indeed, the problem is with an OpenVZ container (VE).
The errors I get are:
Code:
FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.
iptables v1.3.8: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
and
Code:
root@vpnserv:/etc/shorewall# shorewall start
Compiling...
ERROR: Traffic Shaping requires mangle support in your kernel and iptables
/sbin/shorewall: line 320: 6176 Terminated $command $SHOREWALL_SHELL $sc $@
Which means, I guess, that I have to recompile my kernel for
mangle and
iptables support.
btw,
Code:
root@vpnserv:/etc/shorewall# lsmod
Module Size Used by
Code:
root@vpnserv:/etc/shorewall# modprobe iptables
FATAL: Module iptables not found.
root@vpnserv:/etc/shorewall# modprobe ip_tables
FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.
Iptables is 'installed' (apt-get) but not running, it can't start.
Can someone please explain my how to do this -specific- upgrading/patching/recompiling of the kernel.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Laurens
