[Ubuntu 15.10] Running very slowly

So, I just got Ubuntu 15.10 to install. It was running very slowly on my HDD so I decided to put some space aside on my 480GB SSD that I use for windows. So I'm now currently dualbooting Ubuntu 15.10 alongside Windows 10 on the same drive.

After I booted into Ubuntu, I was prompted with a few updates. Sure, sure. Click this that and the other; get me up to speed. Everything was fine and it was running pretty darn smoothly. Now that I've restarted, my Ubuntu installation is running terribly slow. Typing is lagging on screen, tooltips when hovering over the dock are jagged and "low fps". Moving windows is blocky and staggered. The entire user interface and operations are just crawling by. Usable, but unacceptable.

PC specs more than meet the requirements.

Intel i7 5820k
Corsair 4x4GB DDR4 2666Mhz
EVGA GTX 980 SC
Mushkin 480GB SSD

Any ideas? There was an "unknown device" that asked for a proprietary driver and I said sure since it wasn't being read properly. It said something about using intel microcode proprietary drivers for the device. Could that be it? Other than that I don't see why it should be this slow especially on an SSD.

After some desperately hard searching, I've once again solved my own issue.

After selected the microcode download, apparently it tried to change my processors instruction set. It caused my CPU to throttle incredible low. Down to a measly ~430Mhz.

After using the command apt-get purge intel-microcode and a reboot. My installation seems to be running fairly normal. Thanks to anybody who may have started doing some searching in order to help me out.
