Good morning everyone,
I've a very weird problem with Suse 9.0 :|
Currently, I'm running Suse 8.2 and there was no problem installing in, even with the HPT372 RAID controller. I was pleasantly surprised, because it failed with Gentoo 1.4, Red Had 9, Mandrake 9, Knoppix 3.3,...
I decided to get me a copy of Suse 9.0 Professional. I thought by myself that since it worked with 8.2, it should work with 9.0 too.
However, I was wrong. I can't even boot my pc with it. I get a kernel panic due to a NULL pointer dereference at address 00000000, just after it detects hda and hdb, connected to the HPT372 RAID controller.
I've tried the boot options like pci=noacpi, ide=nodma, acpi=off, bezeichneacpi=off, apm=off and nosmp. None of them helps. Always the same error
I sent a mail to Suse Support past Wednesday, but they didn't reply yet.
Is there anyone on this forum who managed to get it working?
I've an Athlon XP 2000+ | Asus A7V8X-X | 512MB DDR | gforce4 ti4400 | SBLive!
Following devices are connected on:
-- IDE-0: Plextor 121032A CD-RW and LiteON DVD-ROM
-- IDE-1: Quantum Fireball EL with Suse Linux 8.2
-- HPT372: 2x Maxtor HD (RAID-0) with Windows XP Professional
I also heard someone saying he used the kernel from his existing linux and made his own ramdisk and made a bootcd out of it. Sounds interesting, but how do I do that ?
Anyway, I really hope someone can help me, 'cause I don't like to have spilled 95 € for something I can't even use :'(
Oh .. I

, but there was nothing written about it in the User Manual ot the Admin manual.
Thanks
