[SuSE 8.2] Do the bootloaders readily boot WinXP on default installation?
I wanna install SuSE 8.2 on my pc after WinXP.... I've had problems before with GRUB not wanting to boot WinXP at all, so i had to do the old fixboot, fixmbr thingy...
I just wanted to know if LILO will see WinXP during its installation so that i dont have to muck around trying to force it to boot.
Failing that does anyone know of any good free third party bootloaders that will boot both operating systems with no problems.
Thanks!

I tried to do a dual boot between Mandrake 9.2rc2 and WinXP and had a lot of trouble with grub too (I even tried to use XP's bootloader to load up the linux boot sector... never got it to work) Anyhow, I switched to LILO and it loads XP fine for me.
Mandrake's install did all the config for me, I don't know about suse

All I can tell you is that i just installed SuSE 8.2 on a winbook j4. 40 gig HD. Winxp resized with partition magic (NT). Linux partitions sized with partition magic (swap,/,/home). And I had no problem with GRUB as the boot loader. In fact I was left with the options of linux, windows 1 (XP), or windows 2 (windows recovery). YMMV, but it worked well for me.

Dual Boot
I currently have 8.2 on both my laptop and my main PC.
Grub works great..
Lilo also works great..
I do however like lilo a bit more because of it's simplicity.
Grub seems to be pretty but I have SuSE as default and it seems to always begin the boot before I can switch it to my windows option.
I know you can set this to be a longer delay but I'm to lazy!
