[slackware 10.0]Fonts
Hello
I have a problem with my fonts of slackware. When i surf on the internet, some websites show me boxes with numbers in it, instead of charachters. I have the same problem with an other program called Charachter Map(Menu -> Utilities -> Charachter Map). It shows also rectangular boxes with numbers in it. How can i solve this problem? Thank you very much. Hykje |
Have you the right font?
Many Linux text renders shows boxes including a number (which is the unicode code for that char).
The problem arise whene the renderer does not find the right glyph to render, aka the right font to draw that text(char) was not found or not installed properly. try the following fonts resources: FSF freefonts download another site freefonts.org and of course check the included fonts with your slackware. almost all the modern Linux distros include unicode fonts for all languages. |
Re: Have you the right font?
That didn't really helped me.
The first one whas an empty directory. The second you have to pay for. And the third whas a search engine. and after i downloaded them. What do i need to do with them? Sorry, but im still a :newbie: Thanx Hylke |
This how to do it
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.
I peeked for you a very nice and clear tutorial (includes links to free fonts sites). Just follow it and it will work. (You can skip some techincal issues or explianations) Click here one last word: check that your slcackware Linux for unicode fonts (which version you use?) coz installing from a sclackware package is very simple and automatic. Good Luck:) |
