[PROBLEM_IS_CHANGED] Help please "Ubuntu installed but not booting "!

I just installed Ubuntu 8.10. While installing no option menu appeared (to make the Ubuntu in the booting list with Window 7).

Now Ubuntu doesn't appeares in booting.
Installation partition: C

Ubuntu 8.10 is old and no longer supported. Please download the latest version of Ubuntu (10.10) and I'm sure your problems will go away.

Was that soon enough?

MODYSAMA 01-13-2011 05:41 AM

Thank you,sir.
But I just uninstalled Kbuntu 10.10 and installed Kbuntu 8.04 hoping to solve my previous problems with 10.10..

Do you know an older version enable booting option while installing?

sycamorex 01-13-2011 05:49 AM

I think you'd be better off installing 10.10 and posting your problems here. You could also try the long term support version 10.04..

Any help ,please?

Aquarius_Girl 01-13-2011 07:56 AM

and you installed Ubuntu AFTER installing Windows?

Aquarius_Girl 01-13-2011 08:07 AM

When you boot up your computer, have to tried to read the messages at the bottom of the start screen which says "Press F1 to enter boot menu"? The key may be different from F1 but have you tried it?

MODYSAMA 01-13-2011 09:52 AM

I can enter the boot menu pressing F9.

I want to clear something:
I have no CD, I just downloaded the source form the Internet and run installation.
I installed Ubuntu through Windows 7.
Any suggestion?

You downloaded an ISO file through internet and installed directly through it?
OR
You downloaded a tar file and ...?

What did you download exactly?

Kind regards

MODYSAMA 01-13-2011 10:39 AM

Sorry Anisha.
So.. I downloaded a source (Type: WinRAR archive (.iso)).
But I didn't burn it on CD. I just extracted it in (partition C) and run wine. At final Message appeared "installation success and asked for reboot now ".
I pressed enter and rebooted the machine but no Ubuntu appeared while booting.
