Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Is there a known reason why a listed WAP in NetworkManager (Ubuntu 9.04) would be grey where the radial button is disabled? It seems it does not have a problem connecting to an open WAP however the one in question is using '802.1x'. My first assumption would be due to the drivers not being properly supported for such a connection, the card on hand being 'BCM4306'.
In the past the machine was using 8.04 and switched due to the fact of inability to connect to the same WAP through a manual setup as the only wireless security option listed would be LEAP and PEAP would not show up within NetworkManager as an option.
As mentioned I am mainly curious what causes a listed WAP to be greyed out as I am sure there would be a trigger or something it can't detect to cause it. I have attempted searches into this and I have yet to see a similar situation although it sounds like it might be a common thing.
