I want to ask a few questions about [k]*

1) Where of how do I manage 'start-up programms' ?
I could not find all the info. When I start my [k]Ubuntu I already have about 95+ processes. For example I don't need 2x --preload konqueror, because I use Dolphin to explore files and Opera for internet browsing.

2) Audio device. Why's only one program can use audio device?
I've tryed to enable 'full duplex' but no luck, maybe I need reboot or something else?

3) What are the security basics?
I mean to avoid public scans n' public stuff. What about spyware and viruses?

I think you might be carrying some Windows concepts over to the Linux world...

1. Windows and Linux processes don't work the same way. A Linux machine, or any Unix machine actually, will run many more processes at one time than a Windows machine; that is just how it is designed. You don't really need to pick through them and disable anything unless it is something obviously unnecessary (for example, a mail server daemon on a desktop). Kubuntu doesn't include anything like that on the normal install, so there is really nothing to worry about.

2. That sounds like it might be a driver issue, do you know what your sound hardware is?

3. There is no serious threat of spyware or viruses on a Linux machine, so there is nothing you need to do about it. There are AV programs for Linux, but they are designed to scan files which are being shared/traded between Windows machines over a Linux server. Make sure the system is kept updated, and use a strong password; that is basically it.

Sound device is AC'97.

1.1) Is it possible to loop (wait for this 'Ok' prompt) and send ok or close?

2.1) Is there any program that could send keys to specific window? I mean in windows you have some macro/loop programms. Now I need to replace that. < for gaming purposes.

3.1) What's Xkb? How can I set key to change keyboard layout?

4.1) How can I enable num-lock at startup?
