'Lost interrupt' when trying to boot Debian for the first time after clean install

It has been a while since I used Linux, so I thought it would be fun to install some distro again. I chose Debian. Downloaded the netinstall (i386) cd and put it in my pc and reboot. I ran through the installation process. Everything seemed to work. After the installation the system reboots.

Then: POST->Grub->boot... and while it loads the systems gives some lines with 'hda: lost interrupt' and 'hdb: lost interrupt'. Then when its almost done (Linux didnt really start yet, no '[OK]' thingies yet) I get more and more of those lines.

Something like:
ide-cd:cmd 0x3 timed out.
-hdb: lost interrupt
-hdb: lost interrupt
-hda: lost interrupt
-hda: lost interrupt

And some more of this...

And after a few mins it says something like: No root system, dropping to shell.

I tried google and I get things like: bad power supply or bad hdd. Tested it... not the problem. I also found someone who said that disable DMA in BIOS would help. I can't do that in my bios (have newest version). I did try all the options that have something to do with the SATA/IDE controllers but nothing helped.

Anyone any ideas? :)

I say 'something like' because im at my work now so cant give you the exact sequence of errors.

btw my system config:
Intel C2D6850
Gig GA-DS3R
2Gb kingston Hyperx
8800GT pcie card
WD 36Gb raptor sata
WD 500Gb sata
NEC sata dvd-r/w
Tagan 600watt power supply

It looks like Debian detected your hard drives as IDE and installed IDE drivers. Then when you boot the hardware seems to be something else (SATA?) so the drivers don't work. Try setting up your BIOS so that your system is 100% IDE and then boot.

If that doesn't work then try setting up your BIOS so that your system is 100% SATA and then do the install again. See if the Debian installer will detect everything as SATA if that is what the BIOS says it is.
