You Call This High Speed???

Howdy all, newbie here. I love Linux, so far it's worked great for me. That being said, I had high speed hooked up yesterday and for some reason it's very very slow. In fact I got so impatient that I used my dial-up account because it was faster!! I checked with tech support and they determined though checking the modem that I was getting 3Mb download speed and like 908 upload.

The dude that installed it checked the connection on his Windows based laptop and it was blazing fast. Any ideas????

Thanks in advance.

Have you tested your connection with a windows machine? Try to isolate the problem to either your connection or the Linux pc. You can use sites like 2wire.com or the Bandwidth meter on cnet.

I use netstat live on my windows pc. It is available at analogx.com

I get this slowdown with Konqueror, which is a web browser. Some web browser's work better then others. Try using Firefox, not mozilla, and don't use Konqueror for web browsing, if u absolutely have to use a file broswer to search the internet, use Galeon. (Which I don't think is a file browser, but what the hell throw me a bone)

I would definately try updating to Firefox! It is much faster!
