xdm error : Cannot convert Internet address to host name

I am using Xmanager2 to access my Fedora core 3. On my windows 2000 server it works well, but it does not so cute on my windows xp professional. The log file xdm-errors shows£ºxdm error (pid 3078): Cannot convert Internet address my-ip-address to host name. why? Note that my computer has a different name in 2k server with XP professional, but it still not works after I change them to be same.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do, but usually these kind of problem are related to DNS client configuration, mean, take a look in /etc/resolv.conf to check if your DNS server ip is there. Maybe your windoze XP DHCP thingy doesn't send the DNS server properly with the network configuration? In that case, setting a static DNS address would be an easy fix.

I got it! It's the windows xp's firewall! Something wrong with my firewall, but when I close it the problem is gone! Thanks all of your reply!
