workin of a router


HII every one,
i hav a doubt...

i m talking about private class IP addres(such as one which is present in colleges or any organizatios)

when i send a packet....,such as when i ping an ip address or net send
to some one within my own hostel or LAN(i mean to say within my own subnet).........
those that packets goes upto switch only............
or it goes to router also which is connected to the WANs.......

can some one plzz expalin ....whats happens....??

If the switch is good enough it will only go through the switch.

I think you should pick up a book on networking, or at least do some reading on the Internet; try starting here.
