WLAN to LAN access control with RADIUS and ChilliSpot

Hi all!

Lets try for a first post ever without slipping up (too much :p)

Hope this makes sense, I'll try to fully explain my situation...

As a project I'm working on, I'm trying to set up a captive portal on my work LAN to be accessed by both internal users and visitors.

I'm currently looking a implementing this with Gentoo Linux 2008.0 running on ESXi 3.5. My router-box (VM) has 3 ethernet adapters:
- internal
- external
- WLAN this goes off to my WLAN AP (inc DHCP server)

Portal wise I'm leaning towards ChilliSpot with a FreeRADIUS and SQL back end.

This is where the config questions come in.

I want visitors to be able to login with one of my one day passes and have access to through the WLAN ethernet to the external network & internet only, on here I'll stick a basic firewall and proxy etc.

My internal users need to be able to login using the same portal but have access to the internal network instead and from here it would follow the normal route to the internet back through the router.

So... Has anyone got any pointers or thoughts on is this possible. If so how. I've read the ChilliSpot docs (what I can find) and Hotcakes Hotspot Manager seems to fit the bill but I'm still not 100% sure.

I'm not a complete n00b but not a RADIUS expert either so I just need a few pointers thats all.

Thanks everyone,

Phil

Did you mean to mark this "[SOLVED]"?

If so kindly post the solution -- it might help someone else w/ the same problem.

BTW, your post reads well -- I repped you for good writing.

You list could have been done w/ the "list" tag:
