wireless - service dependancies
I recently setup a Freevo media center that is working well, running on Febora 8. I have a wireless RT61 PCI NIC, that is using native drivers and wpa_supplicant. I had issues getting it to work and it seemed to come down to the correct sequence of things loading. Right now it works successfully by disabling the Network service and wpa_supplicant via chkconfig. Then, using /etc/rc.local I start the Network service (wlan0 is set not to auto start), then start wpa_supplicant, then ifup wlan0. If I try to load services in any other sequence, I can't find a DHCP address.
The other weird thing, that I am hoping for an answer to, is if I ifdown/ifup wlan0 after it is connected, I can't get a DHCP address. If I use a staic IP, I can't ping the gateway. If I stop the network service, stop wpa_supplicant service and basically rerun /etc/rc.local, I still can't get a DHCP address. I basically have to restart.
My assumption is there is another service or program that I need to kill but I can't locate it. Maybe there is a lock file that is created?
Just looking for ideas to try and tie up this loose end.
thanks.
