Wireless enable port of laptop not working in Linux(RHEL 5.3)

I am Having HP 530 notebook. It has a wireless port which works fine in windows. In linux I have installed the driver(For intel 3945abg), installed the firmware. When i am trying to make the port up, it shows the error message that " Radio disabled by HW RF Kill button"
The wireless enable button on the laptop is not glowing even when i press it. It works fine in widows.
Any idea how to enable this button

Could you post the output of the following for us?
Code:

rfkill list
Note that if your system does not have rfkill, you will need to install it. Is your version of RHEL paid for? If not, you will need to manually download the package online.

Cheers,

Josh
