Wireless connection only works when close to the router - on Fedora 13
I have Fedora 13 installed on my Fujitsu Siemens Laptop. I can only connect to my wireless router when the laptop is close to it. When I try using the laptop in the next room, it keeps asking for the password and eventually disconnects after 3 or 4 attempts. The wireless connection worked fine in Windows XP. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I would appreciate any help.
Sorry for the late reply! been out of circulation for a while. My router is a Billion VOIP/802.11g ADSL2 + Router. My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo. With Windows XP my daughter gets 80% signal on her laptop in my living room which is downstairs - a fair distance away from the router. Fedora 13 network connection on my laptop is intermittent. I got to put in the wpa key and then it works for a few minutes then disconnects. The wlan-ap under wireless network then shows 100% signal strength under available networks, but locked. It keeps popping up the window requesting a password.
I get a 100% wireless connection when the laptop is around 2 meters from the router. The connection is established automatically & stable. I am connecting using the default network manager. This does not help in anyway as I can use a LAN cable when close to the router
