Wired Network Disconnected

Hello,

I know this is a common thread posted by many. I have checked many threads and followed all the steps but none helped me.

My wifi is working fine but for ethernet its saying "Wired network Disconnected". I do not have a DHCP network so I am manually giving the IP, and I have even manually edit the NetworkManagement file to "managed=true".

Can someone provide me any further steps?

Have my thanks!

When you turn the wireless off, does the wired connection come alive?

Also, what distro and what make/model of computer? More information will make it easier of persons to come up with suggestions.

Question

Thanks for you reply!
I am using Ubuntu 11.04, and my laptop is Sony Vaio-VPCEB34EN.

Turning off wireless does not help. I checked my laptop in a DHCP network for driver issues, but in DHCP it worked fine. But, my present wired network does not support DHCP.

Thank you !

make sure that you're assigning the right ip address to the Ethernet card.

issue the command

# service network restart

and see the output.

Hello,

This is the output of service network restart:-
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
[sudo] password for sudip:
* Running /etc/init.d/networking restart is deprecated because it may not enable again some interfaces
* Reconfiguring network interfaces... [ OK ]

also, find the details of ifconfig:-
sudip@sudip-VPCEB34EN:~$ ifconfig eth0
eth0
Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 54:42:49:e6:4c:62
inet addr:141.76.124.57 Bcast:141.76.124.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
Interrupt:18

Thanks for your help, but nothing is making it work till now
