Winme On Laptop And Mandrake On Desktop


i was wondering if i could get into my laptop using my desktop over a direct connect ethernet (crossedover) and be able to get files and vise versa, laptop to get stuff off desktop

laptop has a built in NIC and desktop has a HP NIC (BOTH 100 Mb)

im running mandrake 8.1 on DP and mellinium on LP.

TIA, TIA, TIA

BTW where can i get winex cuz i have a bunch of progies for windows GUI and API but not for linux and i want to use them(QUAKE3 :-))

if you want to share files between Linux and Win you need to run Samba on the linux machine. you need to create shares in the samba conf file.

Samba works in all window managers. It interprets the SMB filesystem used by Windows for its filesharing thing.
