Hi, How can I connect to a remote windows share from my red hat 9 box? I think I can use the mount command with the /smb but can't remember. Can someone please help me out.

Thanks

haven't done this for a while, but you need smbmount. I remember there is something about double slashes.

I think the command is:

smbmount \\\\pcname\\share /mountpoint -o username=pcloginname,guest

This was on Suse, anyway

Best Regards

Hi,
I got it working - the actual command is :

smbmount \\\\pebnote\\d /tmp/mnt guest

where pebnote is the pc Id
d is the share name
/tmp/mnt is where I mounted it to
guest option saves SMB password authentication

You need to be super user (root) to do this

I am on a domain also. If it won't work, it may be the samba user authentication.
