Hi,
I'm running Lm 10 with samba as a file server for Win XP machines. One windows box an the system is constantly announcing itself as a local master browser:-

I don't think that there is any process on that box which should cause this. Any ideas as to how I stop this from happening?

Thanks,

Look at your /etc/samba/smb.conf file and check the Local Master, Domain Master & Preferred Master settings.

What an outstanding memory I have. I can't remember how I fixed this problem before. Every morning, 4:00, we used to lose the SMB server as Master Browser. One Win2K client used to take it, and lose it, after a forced election. The problem was definately in the Win2K client NOT Samba. If I remember exactly where it was on the client, I'll let you know. Sorry.........
