Question windows and linux, peer to peer

I have a windows 98 machine I would like to connect to a linux (red hat 7.3) machine can someone give me the jist of how I can do this?

please read the netwowrking howto at tldp.org for information about setting up linux networks. fundamentally if you have a cable between two working NIC's then they are "networked" do you want all that "network neighborhood" junk? if so read up on samba at tldp.org and many many otehr places.
