Windows 7 and Xubuntu 9.10 networking.
I want to make a little network with my Windows 7 and my Xubuntu 9.10 computers.
So I can view all my documents from my xubuntu machine through my windows 7 machine and my windows 7 machine through my xubuntu machine. I am going to use a cross-over LAN cable. I don't want to use any method that involves hacking both of my machines. Thanks in advance! |
It might be better to buy a cheap switch. You'll need to set up the network ip numbers and get the machines talking to each other first, then install and configure samba on the ubuntu machine and define the shares that you want to use.
You may also like to experiment with setting up a dhcp server on the ubuntu machine to avoid having to set the Windows IP manually. |
