Windows 2K AD + Linux Member server
We would like to run a Win2K server providing Active Directrory, and run a linux machine for mail (SMTP, imap, pop, webail, procmail and spamassassin).
Is the best way to do this to join the linux machine to the domain with samba (security = domain) and then run winbind?
What kind of user management will I have to perform? I assume that when I add users to the AD I will need to create their home directories on the linux machine. What other problems might I encounter?
We are a small company, and I am first an engineer, then IT manager.
We have been through several Network incarnations, including Win2K with Exchange (Awful), No domain with a debian mail server (difficult to manage the network) and lately we have Mac OS X as a samba PDC (this is a nigthmare of broken promises and scarce documentation by Apple).
Most users on our 20-person network are XP, a couple OS X, and only one linux workstation. We are married to Windows at the moment, but hopefully we can migrate towards linux as time goess on.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
