Winbind ans Samba problems

Configured samba with security set to user at first and tried to browse the machine from win XP machine . I could browse the machine but i was getting an error saying the machine is not accessible if i try to access it.

I then security to domain and reconfigure /etc/nssswitch and managed to join the domain from the Linux Box

Samba started OK but winbind was failing to start and the following is an extraction from the samba log file

[2005/06/03 15:48:53, 5] libsmb/namecache.c:namecache_enable(58)
namecache_enable: enabling netbios namecache, timeout 660 seconds
[2005/06/03 15:48:53, 0] nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:winbindd_param_init(560)
winbindd: idmap uid range missing or invalid
[ 2005/06/03 15:48:53, 0] nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:winbindd_param_init(561)
winbindd: cannot continue, exiting.

How can get win bind to run and be able to access the box from Windows

I am logging to the Windows XP machine with the same username and password i set for Samba

Info:
Redhat 9
Samba 3.0.4
Windows 2003 for the domain

maybe you need to redo the join to the domain

I'm a newbie who just fixed my issues with my NT domain clients not being able to access anything on my samba server. It started when I had a bad join to the domain. I finally found a post that explained what needed to be deleted and redone to fix this. My post is here and it refers to the posts I found that helped me fix the issue.

The difference for you is that since your using Win2k3, I am assuming that you are also running active directory. In that case the join command I used won't apply but the link to the post on justlinux at the end might provide the answer.
