Will I need a hub with Coyote Linux?
 

I'm looking at (finally) getting broadband for my house. I've been reading up about Coyote Linux, and would like to use it as a firewall. Well, i'd better start from the beginnning.
I have three PCs, this one (a XP2400+, Win2K and RH9), one downstairs (AMD Thunderbird 1100GHz, Win98) and a third old PC (a 486). I was planning on using the old 486 as a firewall for when we get broadband. I was hoping that i would set up the network like this;
broadband modem attatched to the 486 running Coyote Linux, with two NICs, one attatched to each of the newer PCs, with each able to access the internet and share files and printers.
Would this work? would I need a hub or router or switch or anything else?
is there anything you think I'm missing out on?

Yes it should work... but be careful with your broadband modem because with your solution, you must choose an USB modem

Hopefully, you can find a compatible modem that has an ethernet i.e. RJ45 interface. It will be easier to configure but you will need 3 NICs instead of 2. If you you use a hub or switch you do not need the extra NIC.
