Wifi not connecting after upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04
 

Wifi works fine in 9.04. Upgrade to 9.10 or 10.04 results in no connection. WiFi card sees the network but won't connect.

iwconfig shows two different frequencies for each install (2.412G works, 2.422 doesn't). Thinking this might be it, I attempted "iwconfig eth1 channel 1" and "iwconfig eth1 freq 2.412G", both of which resulted in:

Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Device or resource busy.

Any ideas?

i am facing the same problem. my wireless NIC does not connect since i upgraded to Ubuntu 10.4. i read many opinions about this. some ones recommend to upgrade the firmware, others to download, compile and install the Broadcom driver manually, others say that it's a conflict between ssb and wireless. actually i'm new to linux, would anybody help me to solve this problem?

I tried the Ubuntu forums, and they are strangely quiet. Thanks for the suggestion on installing new drivers. I checked, and the drivers for my card ("orinoco_cs") seem to already be installed in the new version. It looks to me like the frequency on the card is not set right. Isn't there a way to force the card to roam?

I found some help.
Post the following Terminal Code Output on the Ubuntu Forum:

lsusb
iwconfig (iwconfig will show what the wireless is detected as......wlan0, ath0, etc.)
lshw -C network
lsmod
ndiswrapper -l
cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
lspci|grep -i net

Open a Terminal Window and use these commands to get more information
on your hardware, wireless, Windows loaded drivers, and Linux drivers
that are currently blacklisted. Copy & Paste in the Forum to prevent errors!
