Wierd error with ping WARNING: failed to install socket filter: Protocol not availabl


I type ping yahoo.com and get the message.....
Wierd error with ping WARNING: failed to install socket filter: Protocol not available

and then ping continues.

This happened right after my kernel upgrade. How do i get rid of that error?

I don't know, do you have support for IPv4 and IPv6.
are you running iptables?

you learn to compile a kernel correctly... check over the options you configured for tcp/ip again, there are plenty of options about socket filters in there, can't remember what they are from cold though.. Google is a sure bet to tell you which one you missed though.

I get the error....

Yikes! There is a loop in the free list!

I recompiled the kernel with no module support. The same kernel boots ok with module support.

How can i get rid of that error with my no module kernel?
