why can't I ping fedora 8 http before authentication?
Hello
I have posted this in the server section, and got no response, so I'm hoping someone would be able to answer it here. I have a question about http server on fedora 8. I used to have fedora 6 and installed it as a server, and every time I turned it on, the moment the networking was loaded, I could ping that machine. On fedora 8, everything is set up separately, so I installed http and enabled networking, but now, when I turn the computer on, I cannot ping the machine before i authenticate the user. It works just fine once I log in, but I need it to work before I authenticate. I already had an incident, where there was a power outage here, so the machine restarted, but then, I was not able to do anything, because I couldn't even ping the machine. Thank you in advance for any ideas.
