When using downloading torrents, I nor anyone else can use the internet effectively.

This happens on any torrent. Even when I'm downloading at very slow speeds that aren't anywhere near my max speed. Is there any solution in configuring Transmission and/or my router so that other people can browse the web comfortable while I'm d/l'ing a torrent.

Thanks again LQ.

EDIT: This is on Mac OS X.

Hi, check your upload speeds, those are IMO a bit more important to limit as I find that uploading causes the most slowdown.
If you have already done that, try looking into QoS on your router.
Another thing I found limiting is that if you download torrents over wifi, and your station doesn't have too good signal, it causes slowdowns on all other wirelessly connected stations.

I have got U/L capped at only 25% of my total bandwidth.

I have looked QoS but it looks really confusing and I am not sure how I would even use that to resolve the situation albeit it would seem if correctly configured it'd help.

Sigh... This is making me mad. It doesn't make any sense.

Your router probably has help directions on th right side of the screen that will help you configure QOS to prioritize the traffic to suit you.

Another possibility for troubleshooting would be to run the Tirrebts on an ethernet cable to offload the radio transceiver for test.

Another solution would be to procure a new Dual band N Router and run the others on the 2.4 gig band and run the torrents on the 5 gig band.

Remember that DSL connections are usually "asymmetric".

For example my modem/router tells me my downstream bandwidth is 20Mb/s but my upstream bandwidth is only 1Mb/s.

So my upstream bandwidth is only 5% of the total.

If you have capped your uploads to be 25% of total bandwidth, that is way too much and your upstream bandwidth is being saturated by your torrents. So set it to something like 2.5% of total. You should see an improvement.
