Wink when network downs my process speed reduced


Hi friends,
Every one is laughing when i tell that if my network downs my system process get slow down ... only in user mode but in root it is working fine ..
the process slow especially if i try to open a terminal or run any gui application its taking much time comparing to normal time where network is up ..
i dont know what is the problem ...
please help me

Don't know which distribution you are using, but it can be related to the fact that the hostname is changed by DHCP
Disable Change Host Name via DHCP in your network settings.

in suse:

2. Select the Network Devices tab
3. Choose Network Card
4. Press the Edit button for your Network Card
5. Press the Host Name and Name Server button
6. Uncheck the Change Host Name via DHCP

thanks very much for reply ... i am using fedora core 7 ...
for that instead of YaSH ...?

i tried system-config-network and clicked edit and inside Automatically obtain IP address setting with dhcp is disabled

another thing is when in root its running perfectly but only in my user login it gives this problem ...
