what kind of network design is this?
 
Hello all


my friend send me this kind of IP on his PC
he use ipconfig/all to get the IP address of his LAN card
he was shock because he didnt familiar with this kind of design.
two IP address in one LAN CARD and take note there is no gateway and DNS but he can browse internet.

DHCP ENABLED: NO
IP ADRESS: 210.14.35.174
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
IP ADRESS: 196.0.0.13
GATEWAY: EMPTY
DNS SERVERS: EMPTY


what is this? and how and what kind of setup is this?

yes this is windows he using XP version...

I just want to know if linux can do like this way and i just want know only if somebody is familiar with this kind of IP configuration...



because even me its my first time to see that IP configuration..

Im so sorry if i post here in Linux questions...im just carried away on my self because Linuxquestions its help me a lot...

In linux you can set multiple IPs using an alias, so

ifconfig eth0:1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
