weird NFS issues
i'm currently running 5 linux machines (3 redhat, 2 slackware) with 1 "main" machine which hosts all my files and data. i'm using NFS to mount the necessary files on my clients.
there are actually two problems, but first here's my /etc/exports file:
/root 192.168.1.*(rw,no_root_squash)
/root/mp3s 192.168.1.*(rw,no_root_squash)
/usr 192.168.1.*(rw,no_root_squash)
my first problem is that when i run the command "exportfs -ar" i get the following error:
Invalid Argument: 192.168.1.54:/root
i'm puzzled as to why it's displaying this error, since that client's IP isn't specifically mentioned in my exports file. though i'm still able to mount that path on my client.
the more frustrating problem i'm having is mounting the same path (/root) on another redhat client. i get a permission denied error when i try to mount the directory using this command:
mount -t nfs 192.168.1.50:/root /mnt/fs.root/
there's no mention of the client's IP in either hosts.allow or hosts.deny (although after running into this problem i added ALL: ALL to hosts.allow).
is it possible that NFS is using config files that i'm not aware of? thanx for any help offered.
