WebDAV and apache

I am at wits end. I set up a WebDAV server but it won't let me save anything. I can't create a text file or publish an iCal calendar. If I use cadaver, I can log in, browse the directory, open an existing file with vi but can't save it. I get a 404. If I try to publish an iCal calendar it says it cannot find the location.

My apache config:
DAVLockDB /tmp/DAVLock
DAVMinTimeout 600

<Directory /home/ginghams/public_html/icals/calendars>
DAV On
AuthType Basic
AuthName "WebDAV Restricted"
AuthUserFile /usr/local/apache/.DAVlogin
<LimitExcept GET HEAD OPTIONS>
Require user webdav
</LimitExcept>
</Directory>

Thanks!

You probably don't want to allow any one else any access at all to that directory, so you migth want to remove the <LimitExcept> and </LimitExcept> lines.

Apart from that - try checking the permissions on public_html/icals/calendars, and make sure the apache user can write to the files (on debian it's user www-data, group www-data)

ubuntuforums also had a post which helped me - search for "WebDAV and XP?" to find it. (I can't post links yet)
