web server via VPN

We already have a VPN setup at the uni. I'm doing a project and would like a web server. It would be nice to have it on 24/7 and accessible via the internet. But I can guarantee the firewall is going to block us. Is there anyway the VPN can bypass the firewall for us so we can access the webserver remotely. we can apply for it to be unblocked but thats going to be hassle. They not too keen on the idea. Even if the lecturers admin the server.

Set up another box with SSH tunneling. However, if your University blocks that port to SSH, then you're back at square one. Either way, you are going to have to open one port to get into your LAN

At my University, they offer us a VPN client from Cisco. If that's the only way to do it, then you will have to use their approved VPN client
