hi all,
i have a linux connecting to a firewall which block its ping to internet. i want to browse website through browser but i dun know what config i should set. i'm very sure it is viable since i have another computer which can access website but firewall block its ping, but i dun know its config. does any body know how should it be configured? thanks very much!
Tell us what distro and version you are using. Your distro may have a network configuration utility you can use. You said that you are on a LAN behind a firewall device, so I assume that you are have a NIC card.
Is the firewall or another host on your LAN a dhcp server. If so you can use that to give you an IP address, and the gateway, DNS addresses. If not, they will need to be configured manually.
the linux i want it to browse internet is FC4, the other computer able to access website is window server. the two computers are behind a firewall which is the gateway for them. the firewall and linux host use the same static ip and the window server use the other static ip.
any opinion? thanks.
the firewall and linux host use the same static ip
That doesn't sound right. Were you assign a block of addresses with a 255.255.255.252 Netmask? It sounds like you are trying to jam 3 devices into a 2-device subnet.
Maybe I didn't understand. Are you using the Linux box as the firewall & gateway?
