want to route linux trafic from vpn created on windows

hi,
I want to route linux trafic from a client say windows xp. what i have to do. Plz let me know simplest solution i have been struggling with this from very long time. but didnt get a right solution.

Here the details of distribution:
LSB Version: :core-4.0-ia32:core-4.0-noarch:graphics-4.0-ia32:graphics-4.0-noarchrinting-4.0-ia32rinting-4.0-noarch
Distributor ID: CentOS
Description: CentOS release 5.6 (Final)
Release: 5.6
Codename: Final
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can also consider the vpnc for linux to just enter simpler username, password and domain to for routing traffic.

Hi, and Welcome!
We need some more information, your question is not quite clear to me.
Trying to pull it together, is this your setup:
Windows XP, vm-host
CentOS 5.6, vm-guest on Windows XP
Windows has a VPN-tunnel to somewhere.
You want traffic from CentOS to go out on WinXP's vpn-tunnel.
Are these assumptions correct?

If so:
* What kind of vm are you running (VirtualBox, Vmware etc)?
* All traffic or just some?
* What is the network setup on Win + CentOS? Please provide type of networking and ip addressing, routing scheme on Windows, default gateway etc.

Hi, Thanks for your reply,

Actualy i am using centos 5 and i want to route all linux traffic through a vpn, Or if i can use any window xp based station as a gatway after creating vpn on it.
I am not using an VM or virtual box. Here are my System specs
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Linux go.goautodial.org 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5.goPAE #1 SMP Thu Apr 28 05:24:24 EDT 2011 i686 i686
i386 GNU/Linux
Using XEON Quad Core System Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz

Using TP LINK ROUTER as a gatway to linux(192.168.0.2/my router address)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Considering first solution for vpn is looking much more suitable to my needs. But how to configure it on Centos problem is that. You will be understood after that, Let say I want to use securitykiss free tunnel (Securitykiss.com)on that Centos 5 Linux Distribution. They offer openvpn config file also. Which is most likely not compatible for centos or i am making mistake somewhere. They guys have tutorial for ubunto as well.

Using openvpn, i am too much confuse that where & to which places i have to give that security kiss tunnel details like username, password, port & address, they are offering LTP2,PPTP as well.
More importantly if let say i am running Autodialing on that centos 5 with asterisk then would all softphones that are registering over this server, use same gateway of vpn that has been configured on centos 5? if not then i must have to go for another solution.

Kindly let me know i can resolve that.

Thanks. Waiting for your kind reply.

Let's see if I get you right this time:
You have a router that connects pc's to internet.
Windows & Linux pc's are on the same internal subnet.
On Windows you use securitykiss, all internet traffic goes through this vpn tunnel.
You want your Linux pc to use this connection as default gateway.

If this is correct, all you need do is:
1) On Windows, make sure the vpn tunnel is default gateway.
2) In Linux, set it to use Windows as default gateway.
Either enter it manually in Centos, or configure your router (which I guess is used as DHCP server?) to set Windows as default gateway.

You are still not very detailed, please remember to always post as much details as you can.
We still don't know about your network setup, I had to make some assumptions but I can't really know if they are correct.

Well you are right in your assumption about my network, i am using a TP-Link router, in WAN i have configured a static public IP given by my ISP and in LAN im using simply 192.168.0.2. That is actually my default gateway in all network.

now coming to your point that i can use windows vpn tunnel as a gateway in my Linux machine. i did try this as well but i wasnt successful on it. Let say i installed security kiss tunnel on window xp based station which has ip address 192.168.0.5 and i mark the vpn connection as my default connection in that window.
then i entered gateway as 192.168.0.5 into my centos machine. but it was still not routing the traffic through that window's tunnel.

Please tell me whether i can use vpnc on centos like we use in xp. to just simply enter a user name password and server address in it. If so then from where i can get the guidance. I have heard about cisco vpnc. What you think about that?
