WEll!

This is a LAN with DSL connectivity. I have a DHCP RUNNING on a Win 2000 server, which also have two ethernet card. The connection from my DSL box comes to my SERVER. Other machines are connected to this server. Currently, I have two Win 98 Pc attached to it.

Now, i want to add this new Red Hat box.( have no clue what to do next), In order to access internet and print services thru the server.

I think for Print services I need to install SAMBA services on this linux box. In order to download SAMBA I need INTERNET connectivity on this machine to download it.

hahahah .......so current objective is to link this Linux box with the existing LAN and to access INTERNET...
I hope this will clear the picture and appreciate your help too.

Thx in adv,

try to connect first, leave printing for later
1. can you ping the server or any other machine?
2. what is the return for the 'ifconfig' command
3. if 'ifconfig' returns an addr. for eth0, can the server ping that.

Yes, I am able to ping other machines from this linux(Red HAT) box.

On my DHCP server I can see this LINUX box too.

THis box is having following IP adrrs 10.212.203.136 and is able to succesfully ping the router too.

..........I guess, i need to do change some settings which i am missing in order to access internet.

Appreciate it.

what is IP of server on LAN side?
what is IP on router side?
make sure all machines are on the same subnet mask?
does server have a firewall?
do a 'netconfig' and check DNS servers, if your server is a proxy
DNS IP should be the server IP and be listed in /etc/resolve.conf, also the server name and IP should be in /etc/hosts
what browser are you using and what happens when you www.
