ummm question
do you have a router or do you only have 1 computer that connects with the modem and then the INTERNET?
a router is a box witch you can connect more computers to the INTERNET

are you running mandrake? (mandriva?) fedora? slackware? debian? what?
are you sure that the connection is plugged in?
what have you attempted so far?
