Question VSFTPD - Seting up virtual folder and users on Fedora Core 2

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up VSFTPD with no sucess.

The rpm package is installed and I can make it run with no problem.

My objective is to set up a FTP server only to upload a webpage which resides on /var/www/html/ with a virtual user 'webmaster' with read/write access to that directory.

Unfortunately I'm unable to create this user with these priveliges.

Can someone help me out pointing to a reference document?

Thanks a lot...

Try to give ownership to that user.
chown webmaster /var/www/html
Then check the privleges cd /var/www
ls -la /var/www
Make sure it has owner as read write
in /etc/passwd change the home directory of this user to /var/www/html

Let us know of any errors you are getting to.

Hello,

Thanks for the info.

In fact I already achieved that status when I changed webmasters user homepage.

However, I once configured a webmaster user in a text file then converted this file
to a .DB file where VSFTPD could check the user in that file against logins.

I was asking for this kind of configuration.

However, since I managed to make this work with local users I think this can be closed.

But I appreciated very much your time and attention to this matter.

My best regards from Portugal,
troniX
