I just installed vsftpd as the ftp server. i have enabled login for local users but I can only login as ananymous. I have tried loggin in as different users but just can't go through.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check your ftp logs:

/var/log/vsftpd.log

Make sure your users are actually registered on your Linux box
Use useradd to do this.

When you log on to ftp as a user, vsftpd will take you to that user's home directory. Make sure it exists.
