vpnc and NetworkManager: no connection

Hi!
When I try to connect to a vpn via vpnc and NetworkManager I get the errormessage "The VPN login failed because the VPN program could not connect to the VPN server." Is that a firewall issue? In a shell I can connect to the server by manually changing the port to something high or adding the "NAT Traversal Mode cisco-udp" option, but the traffic isn't tunneled through this connection then. I don't have these options in the NetworkManager. Any ideas?
I use debian lenny.
Thanks,
Philip
