VPN X windows problem

I have installed Cisco VPN clien on my Fredora core 3 linux box to allow me to connect to my place of work. This works well and I can telnet into machines at work. The problem is I have not found a way to get X Windows back though the VPN. I have exported the display at the far end to the address of my VPN and used the xhost + command on my local linux box but I always find the remote box cannot open the display.

I do the same thing regularly on a windows machine using ReflectionX to the same destination. When I do this I change the network IP in ReflectionX software to be the same as my VPN ip (normaly this is set to the same address as the nic card on my windows pc) This works fine and I get xwindows back from the remote end.

Can any one let me know how to do the same thing on the linux box ?

Are you running a local firewall? You'd need to let it through that. I assume, of course, that you've set the value of DISPLAY on the remote machine.

Hi
Thanks for your reply

The local fire wall is off and I have tried the remote $DISPLAY variable set to the VPN IP and the local linux box IP but with no results.
