Question VPN suddenly not working

Hey guys, so I set up a VPN service on my Asus TM-AC1900/RT-AC68U router. At one point it was working fine, then very suddenly I could not connect, no matter what I did and on any device, no matter what usr/pass combo I tried. I even made them 2 character combinations at one point. eventually, in frustration, I checked the Syslog and found this was the error I was getting (or similar).

Code:
Dec 31 16:02:17 pptp[3929]: pppd 2.4.5 started by lovedeatm, uid 0
Dec 31 16:02:17 pptp[3929]: Connect: ppp10 <--> pptp (208.54.90.205)
Dec 31 16:02:47 pptp[3929]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Dec 31 16:02:47 pptp[3929]: Connection terminated.
Dec 31 16:02:48 pptpd[3928]: CTRL: EOF or bad error reading ctrl packet length.
Dec 31 16:02:48 pptpd[3928]: CTRL: couldn't read packet header (exit)
Dec 31 16:02:48 pptpd[3928]: CTRL: CTRL read failed
Dec 31 16:02:48 pptp[3929]: Modem hangup
I tried a factory reset which did not help either and I am at my wits end tbh. can anyone help?

This PPTP diagnostic page might be of some help to you

http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/ho...ml#lcp_timeout

Some possibilities...

Are you trying to connect to a VPN provider, or is this a private VPN to reach a remote server. Here's a thread where a user found that the ISP was dropping GRE traffic. Chek that your ISP is not the cause of this issue.

This post describes a user's router configuration being the cause of the issue. This was down to the router OS (Tomato) being used, but still might pay to check any relevant settings in your router.

For this issue i must suggest to once power off the VPN router and then restart it and try for once. If still it doesn't work then try to go for a Dynamic VPN server.

As it turns out my isp was blocking pptp trafficking because it's supposedly less secure. Thanks guys

I thought that might be the case. At least you have the definitive cause established now.

There are four types of problems that tend to occur with VPN connections. These include:

The VPN connection being rejected.
The acceptance of an unauthorized connection.
The inability to reach locations that lie beyond the VPN server.
The inability to establish a tunnel
