VPN routing /DNS issue

Hey all,

Hoping someone can shed some light here for me. I have a few end users that VPN thru Cisco. Every so often (about 30%) of the time, if they hit an internal web server via HTTPS, Explorer throws up the security warning that the name on the SSL certificate is no valid.

My gut says that however the VPN is configured that they are either losing or using the wrong DNS servers. I don't have access to the Cisco VPN appliance to check. How can I validate my theory so they will stop hounding me on this issue?
